Duo has worked closely with law firms for over 15 years. Through those years of experience, we’ve learned about some of the common problems law firms face and understand the needs common to the legal community.

DuoLaw is a fully customizable Drupal 8 install profile created exclusively for law firms. Duo created the DuoLaw platform to meet the online needs of law firms in three ways:

  • Custom: DuoLaw is not a template, rather a starting point based on our experience building websites in the legal field.
  • Fast: With the Drupal 8 installation profile, we are able to speed up discovery and quickly integrate the unique needs of your firm.
  • Personalized: We enable each site with the functionality and integrations required by your firm, in a responsive layout, with custom visual design based on your brand standards.

We chose to build DuoLaw on the Drupal 8 CMS for many reasons, including easier content authoring, a fully responsive framework, content building blocks, and breadth of native integrations. In this post, we’ll share how the innovation from the Drupal open source community helps DuoLaw drive value and streamline your work with new capabilities for successful digital experiences.

Content Authoring

Content is the lifeblood of any website. At its heart, Drupal is a content management system that can support both large and small scale operations, from large government entities to Fortune 500 companies.

Drupal 8 takes the content authoring experience to the next level. It ships with the CKEditor WYSIWYG editor, which features a new drag-and-drop admin interface among other enhancements. The new in-place editing feature in Drupal 8, called Quick Edit, allows users to click into any field within a piece of content and edit it on the front-end of the website. This saves editors time, because they no longer have to use a back-end form to correct typos, missing links or images. For the legal industry, where there is often a lot of turnover and websites deal with sensitive information, it is important to be able to quickly and easily update content.

Other content authoring features of DuoLaw include:

  • Text formats and editor configuration
  • Drag and drop editor configuration
  • Better preview with view mode options
  • Responsive and mobile-friendly interface

Responsive Framework

The Drupal community has been working consistently towards improving the mobile experience. In Drupal 8, all core themes are now responsive and automatically resize elements to fit mobile devices. There is also support for responsive images, so large desktop images are properly resized to display on a tablet or mobile phone.

Additionally, all Drupal 8 authoring features are also designed with mobile in mind. The new admin toolbar is responsive, automatically expanding and orienting itself on wider screens while collapsing and orienting vertically on smaller screens. Responsive websites are no longer just a nice to have; they are a necessity. With DuoLaw your visitors can easily navigate your website on any device at any time.

Easier Integrations

Drupal’s open source architecture allows your website to be easily integrated with social media platforms, marketing automation applications, CRMs and more. Drupal 8 allows you to dynamically feed your site with social and third party content, and can even update your profiles directly from your HR system. DuoLaw will smoothly integrate with your other applications to create the site your firm needs..

Content Building Blocks

Blocks are reusable widgets of content that you can place in different regions of your site. One major enhancement in Drupal 8 is that you can now create custom block types, just as you can create custom content types. This gives Duo granular control over different styles, fields, and more for each content block we create for your website. DuoLaw comes equipped with attorney pages, practice group pages, and a news hub, downloads, videos, and more. Using blocks, these features are completely customizable for your final site.
