What’s your roadmap?
That’s the question I ask any potential client I speak with. What’s your plan for creating content on your website? What path are you going to take to migrate from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8?
Knowing those answers helps me understand how Duo can best help them with their website needs. Inevitably, though, if they are looking for a redesign or a rebuild, they are going to hear me talk about Flex pages.

Flex pages are one of the biggest improvements in Drupal 8, and what makes the pages so powerful is their flexibility. To put it simply, Flex pages are pages that are built out of horizontal components, and they make it possible for site owners to build and design beautiful, customizable pages that fit their respective needs.
At Duo, we’ll deliver a site that looks amazing and does what it’s supposed to do, but once it’s delivered, we want our clients to feel empowered to build on what we deliver. When it comes to most digital platforms today, they tend to peak on Day 1. That first day is when it looks its best.
Our belief, though, is that a website is never truly done. Clients’ needs change. Traditionally, clients frequently called us whenever they needed a new page built on their site. Now, though, flex pages provide clients who are nontechnical people with the ability to make really beautiful pages.
Flex pages are very rich as far was what you can do with them. I know that historically, Drupal has been seen as a platform that is not user friendly and requires a large amount of technical skill in order to do much of anything. I want to reiterate, though, that Flex pages make it easy for any type of user, no matter their technical expertise, to make a page that looks good and delivers results.
For example, flex pages make it possible to easily create horizontal components that feature:
- Hero image
- Background videos
- Body component
- CTA component
- Parallax background
- Multi-column design
- Multi-column design with a CTA
- Vertical stats
- Horizontal stats
And the list goes on and on. Now, I can write hundreds or maybe thousands of words about how great Flex pages are, but I think the best way to illustrate all they can do is to show Flex pages at work. And what better site to use than our brand new, redesigned Duo website?
Every page of our new site is built using Flex pages, and as you’ll see, they each have a variety of horizontal components.
- There’s the homepage with the video hero background, as well as the additional video background further down the page.
- There are the parallax backgrounds.
- There are the multi-column components found on just about every page.
Flex pages make it possible to design the type of page that site owners want, without the need to have professionals make every edit.
So, what’s your roadmap? If you think you could benefit from Drupal’s Flex pages, give us a call. We’d love to talk and figure out how we can best meet your needs.
