5 Reasons to Hire a Drupal Agency

As you begin a new website project — be it redesigning an existing site or creating a new hub for content from scratch — there are a number of questions for you to consider. What do you want the site to look like? How is your content going to be organized? What platform are you going to use for your content management system?
The list of questions goes on and on.

Perhaps the first question you should ask yourself, though, is whether you are going to be creating the site in-house or if you are going to hire an outside agency. Obviously, I’m a little biased, but in my eyes, there are a number of reasons why it makes more sense to partner with an outside agency — and specifically, a Drupal agency. Here are five of those reasons:

  1. We get it done

At most businesses and organizations, not having enough to do is rarely a problem. On the contrary, many companies struggle with having too much to do and not enough time to do it. I’ve encountered many people who say they’ve been thinking about modernizing their website or building a new digital platform for years, but they’ve never been able to find the time to commit to the project. That’s where an outside agency comes it.

We build our business on understanding how long it takes to get a project done. At Duo, we value our clients’ time and their expectations. We communicate openly with our clients so that they know where we are in a project and can have reasonable expectations for when they will receive their deliverables.

Additionally, when you partner with an agency like Duo, you get a much wider range of expertise. While your in-house team may be experienced in a few areas, an agency has specialists with various backgrounds, from development and design to user experience and SEO. When you work with an agency, you’ll have a team of specialists at your disposal with a wide variety of skills.

For example, at Duo, while we specialize in Drupal, we also have developers and designers who are comfortable building with WordPress.

Opting for an agency like Duo ensures your project will get done — and done well.

  1. We implement best practices

At Duo, we are always building digital platforms with best practices in mind. Our developers stay up-to-date with the latest information and trends about Drupal modules so that they know how to help you integrate with the third-party platforms your business needs.

Best practices reach beyond just Drupal, though. For example, say you want to make sure your website is accessible for users who may require screen readers. That’s not something you have to ask us for. We assure every client we work with that whatever we build for them will be built using best practices for web accessibility.

  2. We unify your brand

Whether intentionally or not, your brand vision and values may have shifted in the past few years, and sometimes, it’s hard to keep your website consistent with those changes. As a result, what your business stands for may not be in alignment with your online presence.

I’ve seen other organizations simply choose not to commit the time and energy into creating an impactful website. Perhaps the colors online don’t match the brand’s colors. Perhaps the website is not responsive and requires mobile users to frequently zoom in on their screen in order to read the content. These examples, and countless others, ultimately hurt your brand. It makes the brand look old, tired and outdated.

At Duo, we make sure that the online presence we create for you invokes the feelings in users that your business wants.

  3. We keep your tech stack current

If you’re building a website in-house, you’re likely going to use at least some of the technologies you’re already using. While that may sound like a good thing — and many times it can be — it runs the risk of overlooking better options for your business.

Like what I mentioned above about best practices, agencies keep their eyes focused on the latest tech development. Technologies go in and out of favor. Little stays in effect for more than 10 years. Today, most things are cloud based, and there are constant questions about how the systems you use interact with various APIs required to make your website function at its highest level.

Without constantly reviewing the technologies you work with, you run the risk of relying on old systems that don’t necessarily interact with other system you need. When that happens, your data becomes an island. When you’re not able to use your data with anything else, trying to build and expand becomes practically impossible.

  4. We outweigh the cost of not acting
I mentioned that I’ve had more conversations than I can remember with people who say they keep putting off doing website projects because they don’t have the time needed to commit to it. The question these people need to consider (and admittedly, few had when I talked with them) is what the cost is of not doing the project.

Are you not able to implement an ecommerce option?

Are users struggling to find pertinent content on your website?

Are there more efficient ways to structure the content on your website?

There is a price to each of these problems. If users struggle with finding what they’re looking for on your website, their perception of your brand lessens. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that’s not a good thing for a company. Bringing in an outside agency tends to outweigh the costs of waiting.

If you don’t think the time is right to kick off a website project, that is fine. But ask yourself, what is the cost of not doing anything?
